About Crusaders Reunited
Who are Urban Saints? Why Did We Start Up This Site? What Is The Aim Of CrusadersReunited? How Can I Help? Membership How The Groups Are Listed Who are Urban Saints? Since 1906 Urban Saints (formerly known as Crusaders until 2006) has been reaching out to children and young people with the good news of Jesus Christ. We are passionate about working with children and young people who have no church connection, helping them to realise their full God-given potential as they journey from childhood to adulthood. Why Did We Start Up This Site? We decided to start the site in response to various comments we were constantly hearing. Whenever anyone mentioned Crusaders to people who were not currently involved with the movement, people would invariably reply, "Oh, I used to be a Crusader", or "I became a Christian through Crusaders". Although we have now changed our name to Urban Saints, people often still refer to their own past history with ‘Crusaders’ so we have retained the name of the website as CrusadersReunited. What Is The Aim Of CrusadersReunited? This site will enable anyone who used to be in Crusaders (or is still in Urban Saints) to get back in contact with the friends they had in their youth, as well as the Leaders of those Groups. We want to help rekindle those friendships. Other people may have been Leaders in Groups and want to get back in touch with other Leaders or young people they knew. Over 1,700 different youth groups have been set up since 1906 so that makes a lot of lost friends! It is also our hope that some people may remember the good times they had and the benefit that Crusaders was to them in their youth, and may want to help young people today to have the same opportunities through Urban Saints. How Can I Help? It could be that you too found Jesus through Crusaders or Urban Saints. If you did, you will fully appreciate the precious gift which suddenly became very real to you and how important it is to continue engaging young people with the Gospel. We are very mindful that there are over nine million children and young people across our land who are missing out on discovering the good news about Jesus Christ. That is the challenge for all of us! If you feel equally passionate about reaching the ‘lost’ nine million then why not join with us – together we can really make a difference. There are three primary ways to become involved in the Urban Saints movement: Becoming a Volunteer It is true to say that Urban Saints could not exist without volunteers. They are our primary team players, working at the ‘sharp end’ to bring faith, hope and love to this generation. As a growing movement we are keen to find more volunteers who are willing to serve in the many roles we have available. We have volunteering opportunities to fit every skill set and lifestyle; from leading a weekly group to running an annual holiday; from organising events for young people to promoting Urban Saints to local churches. Becoming a Prayer Supporter Prayer is the heartbeat of our work and is pivotal to our growth and effectiveness. We need people who will regularly pray for the ministry, responding to specific prayer needs and asking God for His wisdom and direction for all aspects of the movement. Becoming a Financial Supporter We are so thankful for the many people who support us financially by committing to regular giving. Their support enables us to provide a full range of activities for young people and comprehensive training and resources for our leaders. Every gift, regardless of size, makes a significant difference to our work. We need many more people to support us in this way so that we can continue to grow, reaching even more young people with the good news of Jesus If you would like to support Urban Saints, click here: support@crusadersReunited.org.uk Membership Members of CrusadersReunited will be able to call up any Group or Holiday they wish and add themselves to the list as a Member or Leader. They can read other people’s entries, send and receive emails (all email addresses remain private), and upload photos How The Groups Are Listed (For "Group", please read "Class" if appropriate) Girls' and Boys' Groups are listed together. The dates listed encompass both Girls and Boys. For example, if a Boys' Group closed in a certain year, the list continues if the Girls' Group remained open. Dates listed are those of formal election and formal closure. Groups which were never formally elected have not been included. Quite a few Groups have changed their name or amalgamated with other Groups over the years. These have been set to link up automatically with each other. As we have almost 100 years of history, it is likely that not every Group is listed here (particularly some of the Girls' Groups). If your Group is not listed, please click here to add it.
